This Monday’s motivational tip is from this neat little book I have called the Writers Devotional. I could not find a better way to put it:
“If you obsess over whether you are making the right decision, you are basically assuming that the universe will reward you for one thing and punish you for another.
The universe has no fixed agenda. Once you make any decision, it works around that decision. There is no right or wrong, only a series of possibilities that shift with each thought, feeling, and action that you experience.”
— Deepak Chopra
Sometimes the most helpful advice is also the most straightforward. If you want to get something done, start by defining what your goal actually is. What do you want to accomplish for the day? Where do you want your writing to take you? Put the goal in writing, determining a time frame for achieving your goal, and also flesh out the steps you need to take in order to accomplish said goal. By outlining what you want, you’re creating a road map for yourself to follow, helping you stay clear of distracting detours.
